Krekesparen?

Krekelsparen is a sustainable savings account with a solidarity aspect. Thanks to this ethical savings account you safely invest your money and support PHOS (without extra costs!) at the same time.
Krekelsparen is an initiative set up by Netwerk Vlaanderen vzw and in cooperation with Fortis Bank.

Whenever you trust your money to a bank, it’s being used to grant loans and to reinvest. Your money remains yours but the final call about happens with it as soon as it’s transferred to the bank is not. Clients have neither say in, nor information about, the products the bank chooses to invest their savings in. However, more and more clients wish to see their money invested in a positive way: not in the weapon industry for example but in activities that stimulate employment or environment protection. This sound familiar to you?

Netwerk Vlaanderen holds the view the ‘neutrality of money’ is quite disputable and points out to potential consumers/savers/investors their savings have the power to help and change to world for the best.
With Krekelsparen Netwerk Vlaanderen proves money can be used in a positive way, with positive results for the benefit of all. It’s a means to create and advance a more sustainable, peaceful, democratic society in which solidarity has its rightful place. A second objective of Netwerk Vlaanderen aims at promoting a new healthy and social attitude towards money using campaigns and training as instruments to reach and teach people.

Foremost Krekelsparen is an ethical savings account. Fortis Bank committed to invest the money on these account in social and ecological sensible projects. Ethibel, an independent controlling agency, conducts an annual review of the way in which the funds of the Krekelsparen savings accounts are reinvested.

How does it actually work?
Netwerk Vlaanderen receives a yearly commission from Fortis Bank. When you have a Krekelsparen savings account, you can choose to donate a part of this commission to an organization such as PHOS, without extra costs.
You can take your own commitment even further and decide to donate (a part of) your interests to the same organization.

An important question still rests on our lips; what exactly is the interest on a Krekelsparen savings account?
A Krekelsparen savings account is to be considered as a normal savings account with the current interest rate.
Based on your personal savings deposit, your contribution is calculated and donated to PHOS without you actually paying it. So, what are you waiting for?
